R.I. Gen. Laws § 44-33.1-1 — Declaration of purpose
The general assembly finds and declares that preservation of Rhode Islandâs historic
residences enhances an understanding of the stateâs heritage, improves property values,
fosters civic beauty, and promotes public education, pleasure, and welfare. The purpose
of this chapter is to encourage maintenance and rehabilitation of residential properties
that have historic merit by providing income tax credit for the maintenance or rehabilitation
of historic residences.
